Tri-Cities Opera presents AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS the beloved family opera by Gian Carlo Menotti. Amahl a poor, crippled boy sees a giant star and is fascinated. His widowed mother prays for help for her family's situation, during the night three majestic kings carrying gifts stop and ask if they may rest before continuing their journey to find the newborn baby. Amahl offers his crutch as a gift to the child and a miracle occurs that transforms the lives of Amahl, his mother, the kings and the world. Written for NBC Television Opera Theater it premiered on television December 24, 1951.

Festival of Music sponsors a bus excursion to Tri-Cities Opera for the December 13 matinee of AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS. The performance stars Festival artistic director, Gregory Sheppard. as King Balthazar. The cost of $80 includes round trip coach bus travel, and opera ticket. The trip will leave from Tucker Baptist Church at 12:30PM and return by 6:00PM. Your trip will include a tour of Tri-Cities Opera Center's scene shop, costume shop and wig and make shops.
